So, with Brians frame at the powder coaters, there is no time to lose. Here is a couple of shots of Dylans bottom bracket brazed in place with the large weight reducing windows.

I just wanna clarify my position on the beautiful Paul
horizontal dropouts. I'm not a fan of cantilever design
ever since Cannondale came out with them eons ago.
I prefer the track style. Also, they are very fat. Brazing that wide tab into a delicate 11.3mm S3 seat stay is not as robust as I would like it. A narrower tab shares the load better in my opinion.

Off to the paint store!

Here's a pic of Brians frame with the
seat tube completed and
drop outs in perfect alignment.

And, .........it is done. Ready for powder coat, then back for the logo and accent color on the fork. Now on to Dylans team issue .

Spending the day filing and sanding Brians frame. Will take it in to chase and face the bottom bracket tomorrow.

Might not get to reaming and honing and slitting the seat tube until Friday.

Here is a pic of the S3 .8mm wall head tube. The lugs are a little loose, but I have some 45% silver that should fill the bill. Who will be the guinea pig in the quest for lightness?

I silver brazed brians rear triangle last night and hope to finish it today, with the exception of all the filing and sanding. I noticed that the polished stainless dropout faces were being marred by the skewer, so I will return them to a sanded finish. I believe that that the softer faces provide a better grip fot the skewer though.

Hogging out the BB for weight reduction..............

A completed dropout for Brians frame with the stainless faces sanded to 500 grit and polished. Not an art or show finish, kinda industrial for cross. So far, the combined weight of both stays and brazed on dropouts is 427gms. after the preliminary BB cut. Might be under 400 when fully mitered and the seat stay tabs are cut down.

Received a few XL lugsets from Dazza today. It really Seems that shipping is quicker from Australia than L. A., don't get it.

Brians frame well on its way to completion.

Devo has thrown down the gauntlet on his next SS, sacrificing all for light weight. We will use the S3 seat stays and I'll probably gut the lugs and BB with lightning holes, just like the old days. He could run these Columbus dropouts and cut the hanger off. It will save 26 gms.

And here is Brians front triangle, ready for final clean, sand , and silver braze. It came together real nicely. Sumpin to be said for traditional frames.
